Harlem Townhouse on Convent Avenue

This landmarked Romanesque Revival townhouse is situated on a picturesque block of Convent Ave in Hamilton Heights built in 1887. Given the building hadn’t been updated for decades our renovation required a full rehaul of mechanical, plumbing and electric throughout. The original layout was retained on the parlor floor, but every other level was re-arranged for better circulation and functionality.

Many original details throughout were brought back to life, including plaster moldings, paneling, doors and five original fireplaces. These historic details throughout the house set a foundational backdrop for development of the hard finishes which are feminine, colorful, textured, and curvaceous. Modern updates such as custom kitchen millwork, bathrooms, laundry room, and bar are in harmony with the home’s original features.

FF&E was not in scope for this project; however, included are pieces I put together for a few rooms.
